Spring Health & Attendance: When to Keep Your Child Home

Spring Health & Attendance: When to Keep Your Child Home

Spring brings warmer weather but also seasonal allergies and colds. Knowing when to keep your child home — and when they’re okay to attend — helps protect learning time.

Missing just two days a month adds up! Whether excused or unexcused, absences can impact progress.

Keep Your Child Home If They Have:

  • A fever of 100°F or higher
  • Vomited two or more times in the past 24 hours
  • A sore throat with a fever or swollen glands
  • A rash with itching, fever or swelling
  • Diarrhea (three or more loose stools) in the past 24 hours
  • A doctor’s note saying they should stay home, or they are in the hospital

If you’re not sure if they should stay home, ask yourself:

  • Can they participate in school activities without spreading illness?
  • Will they be able to focus and learn effectively today?

Check your student’s attendance in ParentVUE and celebrate their progress. If you need support, reach out — schools can connect families with helpful resources. Let’s work together to keep students healthy and learning!
