School Mission
White Center Heights Elementary prepares thoughtful scholars committed to social justice for a global community.
White Center Heights is a Kindergarten to Grade 5 Title 1 school in the White Center area of West Seattle. We have students and parents from 41 different countries. Eighty percent of our students speak at least one other language in addition to English. We are dual language school offering a Spanish and Vietnamese dual language program in grades K-5.
We do many things to support our families. Through a state program we provide free breakfast for all students and a free lunch program for 100% of our students. We have a family support program to help families in need. We hold many different family events with the community.
At WCH we focus on the development of the whole child. Our school focuses on academic achievement, social skills development, and positive behavior. We have won the Washington State Academic Achievement award for growth in literacy and math for the last four years. We teach students behavior expectations through our PBIS program. We teach emotional intelligence through the RULER program and we teach students to problem solve difficult situations through RULER and Collaborative Problem Solving. We want all students to feel safe in the school and we work hard to investigate all reports of bullying and reduce these behaviors.
White Center Heights Elementary School has a staff that is dedicated to the students and their families. Our vision is to prepare all of our students to be successful at middle school and beyond on their path to career and college. To do this, we work with our families and the White Center community to provide support to our students.
