Reading is so important for your child that I hope that you will make time to read to them or to encourage them to read every night. The books can be in English, Spanish, Vietnamese or your student's home language. There are many benefits to reading with your child. The most important one is that reading brings life-long pleasure. Reading increases vocabulary and knowledge, so students will be ready to learn even more. If you want to learn more about reading aloud to your child, Jim Trelease, the author of the Read Aloud Handbook has lots of information on his website.
By October the kindergartners and first graders will bring books home to read with you. Please enjoy reading with your child and thank you so much for helping your young ones to remember to return their library books each week on or before their library day.
Students will check out books from our school library each week. Two King County libraries, Greenbridge and White Center, are nearby. They have wonderful books, programs and homework help for our students.
Each class visits the library once a week and checks out books to read at school and at home.
The books for kindergarteners, first and second graders are returned each week. Please make certain that your kindergarteners, first and second graders return their library books by their library day.
In order to finish reading their books, upper grade students may want to keep their books for two weeks.
